Dazmi H. Castrejon is a first-generation U.S. Citizen. Her mother is from Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico and her father is from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Born and raised in El Paso, TX, a border city separated from Mexico by the Rio Grande, her first language at home was Spanish. From an early age she became completely bilingual, speaking Spanish at home and English at school. She always had a passion for learning and determined not to let her circumstances dictate her future, she was the first member of her family to attend college. She earned her degree from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) where she majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Legal Reasoning. She was always determined to pursue a law degree, and participated in the Law School Preparation Institute while at UTEP. After graduating from UTEP, she applied to different law schools all across the nation. She was accepted into over a dozen law schools, including some Tier 1 schools, and received scholarships for more than a handful.
However, it wasn’t until she came to visit the Creighton Law School Campus during Scholars Week that she discovered all that Omaha had to offer. She also saw the dire need for Spanish speaking attorneys and professionals in the Omaha area. Determined to make a difference, she relocated not only herself, but her husband and their young daughter more than 1,000 miles away from home to attend law school in Omaha, Nebraska. They have been here ever since.
Her career in the legal field started after her first year in law school, when she started working part-time as a legal assistant and law clerk at a well-known immigration firm in Omaha. She then went on to work as a law clerk and attorney at another reputable firm in Omaha where she focused on criminal defense. As an attorney, she eventually went back to the first firm she worked at as a law student, and honed her skills as an attorney in the immigration and criminal defense fields. Since then, she has dedicated her time and skills exclusively to immigration and criminal law.
Knowing that she could better serve the needs of her clients on her own, Dazmi founded Castrejon Law Office on May 2012 in Omaha, Nebraska and has been practicing on her own ever since. She was the only employee at first, but eventually added additional staff to accommodate her growing practice. Castrejon Law Office currently employs 5 full time employees in addition to Dazmi and everyone is fully bilingual.
Dazmi is licensed in the State of Iowa, the State of Nebraska, and the U.S. District Court of Nebraska. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Iowa State Bar Association and the Nebraska State Bar Association.
